Accessibility

Walk For A Hero Foundation wants everyone to be able to learn about our heroes, walk with us, and give — including people who use a screen reader, keyboard, magnification, voice control, or other assistive technology.

What we do

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA as our working reference. In practice that means headings and page landmarks in a logical order, labelled form fields, a skip link to the main content, visible keyboard focus, text contrast checked against AA thresholds, tap targets of at least 24 pixels, and reduced motion for visitors who have asked their device for it. We run automated accessibility tests and keyboard checks when we change the site.

What we don't claim

This is not a certification. We have not completed an independent WCAG conformance audit, and some content may fall short of the guidelines — for example embedded video, photographs uploaded to hero and walker pages, and the third-party pages our payment processor uses for checkout.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, email glenn@walkforahero.com. Tell us the page and what happened. We will work to fix it, and to get you the information or complete your gift another way in the meantime.
