Delete Your Account
This page explains how to delete your account for the Walk For A Hero app and walkforahero.com, both run by Walk For A Hero Foundation Inc. One account covers both, so deleting it in either place deletes it everywhere.
In the Walk For A Hero app (iPhone or Android)
- Open the app and sign in.
- On the Today tab, tap your profile picture (your initials) at the top right to open Profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account…
- Type DELETE and tap Delete. Your account is deleted straight away, you'll see "Account deleted", and the app signs you out.
On walkforahero.com
- Sign in and open your Walker portal.
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Delete my account.
- Type DELETE and confirm. Your account is deleted straight away, you'll see "Account deleted", and you're signed out.
By email
If you can't sign in, email glenn@walkforahero.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We may need to confirm it's you before we act.
What is deleted
Your name, email address, photo and walker page, every recorded walk route, your backers' names and email addresses on your walk, and the tokens used to send notifications to your devices.
What is kept, and why
The miles you were credited and the donations made to your walk stay on your hero's total, recorded under "Deleted walker", because they are part of our financial and donor records — donors' receipts and our tax records have to keep matching. These figures carry no name, email or location.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
Email us and ask us to delete any single walk route, or to take a shared route down. Route coordinates are also deleted automatically one year after each walk. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
